Texas Community Development Block Grant application for Colonia Fund Construction Program

Discussion and possible action to authorize the development and submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Colonia Fund Construction Program in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 for water system improvements in Mirando City; and authorizing the County Judge to act as the County's Executive Officer and Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County's participation in the Colonia Fund Construction Program. This grant application will require a match of 20% cash and/or in-kind contribution from the Mirando City Water Supply Corp. and Webb County.

Issue: The Mirando City Water Supply Corporation has had numerous "deficiency findings" by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Solution: An increase in water volume by drilling an additional water well and water well system improvements for the Mirando City Water Supply Corporation will address this deficiency finding as per the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Result: The development and submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Colonia Fund Construction Program for water system improvements as per the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Background:

Background: Grant funds are being sought from the Texas Department of Agriculture - Colonia Fund Construction Program for water system improvements in Mirando City. The Mirando City Water Supply Corporation will operate and maintain these improvements.
