Discussion and possible action to accept the Self-Help Center (SHC) Program Contract #7216013 from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Office Office of Colonia Initiatives in the amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000), and authorizing the Webb County Judge to sign all relevant documents. Contract Period: September 1, 2016 - September 1, 2020.

Background:

The Self-Help Center (SHC) Program has been funded by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs since 1998. The SHC Program has assisted eligible colonia residents living in the HWY 359 area with services such as housing rehabilitation, housing reconstruction, new construction, small home repairs, illegal dumpsite clean-up campaigns, a tool lending library, technology,construction and financial literacy classes and water /sewer connections.

Previous Court Action:

A Resolution was passed by the Commissioner's Court on November 9, 2015 authorizing the submission of the Self-Help Center Program Grant Proposal.
