Issue: A grant funded patrol officer will transition into a county slot at the beginning of the new fiscal year; and, as per Webb County policies, his accumulated compensatory and annual leave time must be eliminated. However, there are no available grant funds to compensate him monetarily for his accrued time.

Solution: As well as requiring him to take time off prior to his transfer, request a line item transfer within state forfeiturefunds to provide the funds needed to pay him the monetary value of his accrued leave-time balances and thus eliminate these compensatory/annual leave balances.

Result: The patrol officer will be duly compensated for his leave accruals and will be able to transition smoothly into his county funded slot.
