Subject:

Discussion and possible action to enter into a Cooperative State and Local Task Force Agreement between the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”) and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office (“WCSO”) for the fiscal year of October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019, at no cost to the county and authorizing the Webb County Judge to sign any relevant documents and any other matters incident thereto. [Requested by Webb County Sheriff, Martin Cuellar]

Issue: Local law enforcement continues to have an interest in protecting the community from illegal activities by and through cooperative agreements.

Solution: DEA has offered to enter into a cooperative state and local task force agreement under 21 USC Sec 873 and the County may enter into such agreement pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 771.

Result: The combined efforts of the DEA and WCSO will increase the presence of law enforcement in this community and impact criminal activities.
