Commissioners Court Special Meeting

Let it be remembered that a special meeting of the Webb County Commissioners Court was held at 9:00 a.m. at the regular meeting place with the following members present to wit:
 
Tano E. Tijerina, County Judge
Jesse Gonzalez,     Commissioner, Pct. 1
John C. Galo, Commissioner, Pct. 3
Cindy Liendo, Commissioner, Pct. 4
   

Thus constituting a quorum, the Commissioners Court proceeded to act upon the Agenda as posted in the meeting notice of the 13th day of September 2019. Present also were Ms. Vanessa Zapata, Deputy County Clerk representing Mrs. Margie Ramirez Ibarra, Ex-officio Clerk of the Commissioners Court, various officers and others interested in the business of the Court.
 
             
CALL TO ORDER BY THE HONORABLE TANO E. TIJERINA, WEBB COUNTY JUDGE
             
1.   Roll Call by Honorable Margie Ramirez-Ibarra, Webb County Clerk
  Roll Call by Ms. Vanessa Zapata, Recording Secretary on behalf of the Honorable Margie Ramirez Ibarra, Webb County Clerk.
  Motion by County Judge Tano E. Tijerina, seconded by Commissioner, Pct. 3 John C. Galo to excuse Commissioner Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina
  Vote: 4 - 0 Motion Carried

3.   Public Comment - This section provides the public the opportunity to address the Commissioners Court on any items on the Agenda. Members of the public wishing to participate must complete a Witness Card specifying which agenda item they wish to comment on. Each public member, individually or in a group, will be allowed a total of Three (3) minutes within which to make any/all public comments.
  No one signed up for Public Comment.
             
COURT TO DISCUSS AND ACT ON THE FOLLOWING:
             
Honorable Rosie Cuellar, Tax-Assessor- Collector
             
4.   AI-9584    Discussion and possible action to levy a property tax rate of $0.412000 per $100 taxable value by Order, under the provisions of Article VIII, Sections 9(a)  and 9(b) of the Texas Constitution and Section 26.05 of the Tax Code for tax year 2019. The maintenance and operation tax rate will be $0.376767 per $100 valuation of which $0.358483 will be for the general fund and $0.018284 will be for road and bridge fund. The debt service rate will be $0.035233 per $100 valuation of which $0.034550 will be for general fund debt and $0.000683 will be for road and bridge debt.
  Rosie Cuellar, Tax Assessor Collector read item #4 with the following corrections:

1.)  $0.376767 should read as $0.376761
2.)  $0.358483 should read as $0.358477
3.)  $0.035233 should read as $0.035239
4.)  $0.034550 should read as $0.034556
  Tax Assessor-Collector , Rosie Cuellar stated to the court for the record that there is no increase in the tax rate and will remain the same as last year.
  Judge Tano Tijerina asked the Commissioners Court if they were in favor or against keeping the tax rate the same as last year.
