Discussion and possible action to allocate funding from the American Rescue Plan to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) recently affected by the influx of Refugees, Immigrants, and Migrants (RIM’s) in Webb County, and any other matters incident thereto.
Issue: Holding Institute, Catholic Charities and Sisters of Mercy have recently been inundated with RIM’s being brought into Webb County by bus from other border communities and have limited financial resources to adequately shelter and feed them.
Solution: Provide these NGO’s with additional funding for food, shelter and clothing to be able to more adequately tend to the RIM’s currently being dropped off at their facilities.
Result: These NGO’s will have additional resources available to them to properly care for RIM’s being dropped off at their facilities. |
