Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of Year 2, FY 2020-2021 for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant award, grant number 5 H79 TI081929-02 in the amount of $400,000, which will allow the continuation of the services currently being provided by the 406th Veterans Treatment Program and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents, and any other matters incident thereto. There are no matching funds required. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the were found in compliance with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has been authorized to award up to 5 years ($400,000 /year), to fund and support Veterans Treatment Courts in order to address the needs of veteran participants and their families.
Solution: Securing funding through grant awards to enable continuance of services to veterans in the 406th District Court’s Veterans Treatment Program and regional services.
Result: Enabling the 406th Veterans Treatment Program to continue to provide services and/or enhance the services currently being provided.
