Discussion and possible action to appoint representatives of the 2020-2021 State Legislative Agenda Committee in anticipation of the upcoming session of the 87th Texas Legislature; and any other matters incident thereto.
Background:
Each legislative session, the Commissioners Court appoints members of a committee to draft recommendations for the Court’s consideration in the development of Webb County’s Priority State Legislative Agenda. Last session (86th Legislature), the committee was comprised of the following members:
Honorable Tano E. Tijerina, County Judge/Co-Chair
Honorable John C. Galo, Comm. Pct. 3/Co-Chair
Adelaido "Lalo" Uribe, III, Budget Officer/Chief Exec. Administrator
Leroy R. Medford, Commissioners Court Exec. Administrator
Nathan Bratton, Civil Legal Division Director
Javier Ramirez, Community Action Agency Director
James Flores, Economic Development Director
Nancy Cadena, Indigent Health Director
Rhonda M. Tiffin, Planning Director/Floodplain Administrator
Regarding recent events relating to the ongoing pandemic, the Court may want to consider including or appointing member(s) who can provide valuable input relating to issues of public health and safety, emergency response, first responders, challenges relating to transitioning into a paperless or digital environment or similar issues identified or confronted during this unique time in our history.
