Discussion and possible action to authorize the transfer of funds within the General Operating Fund from the Reserve account to the Repairs and Maintenance to Building Account in an amount not to exceed $17,000.00 for the expansion of the existing chain link fenced area used to store all County vehicles scheduled for auction and that are no longer in use by department(s). Expansion will consist of approximately 500 linear feet of chain link fence with barbed wire. [Account #1001-1130-001-443000-020 (Repairs and Maintenance Buildings)]
Issue: The yards current capacity is approximately 40 vehicles, the expansion will allow up to 80 vehicles to be held. Over 68 vehicles are scheduled to be replaced in the future, these will require temporary storage while auction procedures are initiated and after commissioners court approval.
Solution: During the current fiscal year, the Purchasing Department has collected over $54,000.00 in auction revenue and overall revenue of $1,637,297.91 collected since inception of the online auction program. The intent is to use these same auction revenues collected as program income, the County Auditor's recommendation is to request a transfer from the Operational Reserve where funds are already budgeted.
Result: Approval of funds transfer will allow the Purchasing Agent to secure competitive pricing for the installation of new fencing for expansion of current holding area for all County vehicles no longer in use and scheduled for auction transfer or disposal.
