Issue: During the budget process for FY 22-23, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office requested the Jail Body Scanner to be funded under capital outlay. The Body scanner will provide enhanced security during the booking process to prevent the illegal smuggling of narcotics or other prohibited items. Scanner will detect anomalies not detectable to the human eye.
Solution: Consider the approval of this budgeted capital outlay request, under a cooperative pricing contract.
Result: The body scanner will provide Jail staff another preventive measure against the illegal smuggling of narcotics into the County Jail.
Background:
Detects both metallic and nonmetallic threats, including weapons, drugs, cell phones and other contraband. Screens from below the feet to above the head, revealing items under the clothing and within the body.
