Discussion and possible action to authorize the Economic Development Department to develop and submit a Fiscal Year 2022 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant application for the Webb County Fire Marshal trough Webb County Fire Volunteer Department to the U.S Department of Homeland Security for up to $200,000, and authorizing the County Judge to act as the Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County’s request for funding. The purpose of the application is to purchase a mobile “Fire Safety House”. This application requires a 5% cash match ($10,000). All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: The majority of individuals affected by fire are found to be low-income, minority, elderly, and children
Solution: The fire trailer “Fire Safety House” is a mobile educational tool that may be easily transported to any location for educational purposes and will accommodate children and adults when it comes to all aspects of fire education and safety.
Result: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is required including but not limited to the County Region (Webb, Jim Hogg, Starr and Zapata).
