Discussion and possible action to enter into a two-year (May 13, 2024 to May 12, 2026) service agreement between Webb County and Grace CDL Truck Driving School, Inc., wherein said Truck Driving School will provide entry level CDL driver training to eligible Webb County residents referred to said Driving School by Webb County Community Action Agency with an enrollment fee to be paid by Webb County of Two Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($2,850.00) per student for a four (4) week course and authorizing and any matters incident thereto; authorizing the County Judge to sign all relevant documents. Issue: As a Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs requirement, the agency must assist qualifying Webb County residents to transition out of poverty.
Solution: Webb County Community Action Agency would enter into service agreement and fund the Truck Driver Training Classes under the Grace CDL Truck Driving School, Inc.
Result: By providing the training to qualifying Webb County residents, it would increase the resident's probability of transitioning out of poverty.
