Presentation and discussion by the Rio Grande International Study Center to collaborate jointly with Webb County and the City of Laredo for the $3,799,996 grant award from the national park service for its Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program for the purposes of a project referred to as Project Uno – Conservation Park Project located in the Zacate Creek Watershed; with possible action to provide the $2,000,000 Webb county cash match; and any other matters incident thereto.
Issue:This City/County project was 1 of 14 grants awarded across the United States. The ORLP grant award federal share is for $3,799,996. The City and County have partnered to come up with the dollar for dollar match to this amount for a total project cost of $7,599,996. City of Laredo has committed $1.8 million and Webb County has committed $2 million if awarded.
Solution:Identify $2 million dollars in County matching funds for this awarded grant.
Result:Once City and County commit their cash match, project can commence.
