Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of a Fiscal Year 2014 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) grant award from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in the amount of $68,943 as reimbursement for the incarceration costs of housing state criminal aliens at the Webb County jail and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. Background:
This grant funds federal payments to localities that incurred correctional officer salary costs for incarcerating undocumented criminal aliens for the period from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013. Per the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) Program guidelines, foreign born (alien) inmates whose incarceration costs are eligible for reimbursement are defined as those who have one felony conviction or two misdemeanor convictions.
