Department:
Commissioners Court
Subject:
Discussion to address the current Webb County Government Classification/Step Increase policy in place regarding requests submitted by county departments and/or elected officials for employee promotions or reclassification of employee positions within their department; with possible action to clarify or amend said policy to reflect that all such proposed requests must be authorized by commissioners court; and any other matters incident thereto.
Issue: Commissioners Court approved a Classification/Step increase policy for Webb County. The current policy needs to be clarified with regards to requests to promote or reclassify an employee position within a department.
Solution: A county department who seeks to promote or reclassify a non-civil service position must first seek approval from the court prior to submitting any requested changes to their department slots. County policy needs to reflect this change.
Result: This policy change will help ensure compliance by all departments and avoid unauthorized changes to the current approved county classification/step increase policy.
