Discussion and possible action to create and appoint a committee to develop a Three-year plan to do away with the deficit created by the Webb County Water utility department; and any other matters incident thereto.
Issue: The operation of the Webb County Water Utility Dept. yearly results in a deficit which must be covered by the general fund.
Solution: A committee should be created to tackle and implement a solution with a suggested three-year plan to eliminate this deficit and its resultant drain on the general fund.
Result: A committee of individuals from Webb County staff or otherwise should create, suggest and implement a plan for the Commissioners Court to follow to make this department and the utility it operates self-sustaining.
Background:
Since its creation the Water Utilities Department has yearly operated in a deficit which must be met by funds from the county's general fund.
Previous Court Action:
The Commissioners Court has contracted studies for rate plans and other possible solutions have been discussed but no plan has been implemented to resolve this continuing deficit.
