Discussion and possible action to approve the "Head Start/Early Head Start Refunding Application" for the 2015 - 2016 fiscal year in the amount of $9,796,195 (Federal Share) and $2,449,050 (Non-Federal Share) for a total amount of $12,245,245, with the discontinuation of Teaching and Mentoring Communities (Texas Migrant Council) as a delegate agency for the Early Head Start program.
Background:
The 2015 - 2016 Refunding application is for the second year of a five year grant. The Head Start program serves 1,218 children between the ages of three and five, of low income families and the Early Head Start program serves 72 children between the ages of 1 month and three, of low income families. The Early Head Start program is a home-base and center-base program and serves pregnant women. Combined, the grants employ 280 staff.
