Discussion and possible action to approve a Twelve (12) month contract between Webb County and Zapata County for the housing of Webb County adult inmates effective October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 at a rate of $40.00 per inmate per day and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: Annual contracts are required to permit Webb County inmates to be housed with neighboring Counties due to overcrowding or due to classification issues.
Solution: Secure intergovernmental inmate housing contracts with other County Jails in South Texas.
Result: Ensure Jail ratios are met and classification issues.
Background:
Webb County Jail requires to have intergovernmental contracts with surrounding Counties to ensure that Adult County inmates can be housed at other jail facilities due to overcrowding and / or due to classification issues, lack of segregation cells. Webb County Sheriff's Office recommends approval of annual contract with Zapata County.
Previous Court Action:
Previous inmate housing contracts have been approved for Maverick, Zapata and Jim Hogg County.
