Discussion and possible action to clarify and/or modify the job description for Slot #1381 (Employee Benefits Coordinator) and Slot #2461 (Safety Coordinator) and, upon vacancy of said slots and availability of payroll funds, approve the posting and filling of said slots. If a modification is necessary and approved by the Court, modifications will be taken before the Civil Service Commission for certification.
Issue: The minimum qualifications listed in the current job descriptions are vague and subject to interpretation and depending on how they are interpreted do not allow for current employee advancement and promotion. Furthermore, depending on interpretation, the descriptions limit the pool of potential applicants.
Solution: Add the word “preferred” to both the educational and experience requirements.
Result: Current employees will be eligible to apply for these positions and have an opportunity for advancement and the pool of potential applicants will be expanded.
