Discussion and possible action to authorize the Webb County Community Action Agency to enter into an annual agreement with the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Progran; Direct Energy, CPL Retail Energy, WTU Retail Energy, First Choice Power, and Bounce Energy. Effective as of January 1, 2017, and shall continue in effect for an initial term through December 31, 2017, and may be renewed annually each January with the signatures of both parties. The purpose of the agreement is to assist low income clients pay their electric home energy expenses thru the Neighbor to Neighbor Program. Also included is a check in the amount of Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11,000.00) to be used in accordance with this Neighbor- to-Neighbor Program Agreement. [Account #2924-5170-521]
Issue: Webb County Community Action Agency will enter into an annual agreement with the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.
Solution: The Neighbor to Neighbor Program will provide funding to the Retail Energy Providers low income clients pay their electric home energy expenses.
Result: Qualifying recipients will receive payment for their home energy expense for up to $700.00 per household, per year.
Background:
Under the agreement the Webb County Community Action Agency and the Energy Providers shall implement the Neighbor-to- Neighbor Program, under the energy providers will provide funding to be used for payment of qualifying low income clients home energy expenses for up to $700.00 per calendar year.
Previous Court Action:
On January 25, 2016, the Commissioner's Court approved the authorization of Webb County Community Action Agency to enter into an annual agreement with the Neighbor -to-Neighbor Program.
