Issue: New equitable shared funds have been received from the U.S Department of the Treasury. These funds have now been awarded to the District Attorney's Office to be spent in accordance with the Treasury Equitable Shared Guidelines.
Solution: Appropriate new revenues and expenditures not currently budgeted for FY 2016-2017.
Result: Utilize new equitable shared funds for law enforcement purposes and in accordance with Equitable sharing guidelines.
Background:
The District Attorney's Office participates in the Equitable Shared Program run by the U.S Department of the Treasury. Funds have been received by the District Attorney's Office and available to appropriate into their respective forfeiture fund. The Treasury Equitable Shared funds are mainly a result of asset seizures with the collaboration between different law enforcement agencies and the Webb County DA by sharing Intel and conducting law enforcement operations in South Texas..
