Issue: New equitable shared funds have been received from the U.S Department of Justice. These funds have now been awarded to the District Attorney's Office to be spent in accordance with the Department of Justice Equitable Shared Guidelines.
Solution: Appropriate new revenues and expenditures not currently budgeted for Fiscal Year 2018.
Result: Utilize new equitable shared funds for law enforcement purposes and in accordance with Equitable sharing guidelines.
Background:
The District Attorney's Office participates in the Equitable Shared Program run by the U.S Department of Justice. Funds have been received by the District Attorney's Office and available to appropriate into their respective forfeiture fund. The Treasury Equitable Shared funds are mainly a result of asset seizures with the collaboration between different law enforcement agencies and the Webb County DA by sharing Intel and conducting law enforcement operations in South Texas..
