Commissioners Court Special Meeting

Let it be remembered that a special meeting of the Webb County Commissioners Court was held at 2:00 p.m. at the regular meeting place with the following members present to wit:

Tano E. Tijerina,                                 County Judge
Jesse Gonzalez,                                 Commissioner, Pct. 1
Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina,                    Commissioner, Pct. 2
John C. Galo,                                      Commissioner, Pct. 3

Thus constituting a quorum, the Commissioners Court proceeded to act upon the Agenda as posted in the meeting notice of the 29th day of December 2016. Present also were Mrs. Virginia M. Rodriguez, Deputy County Clerk representing Mrs. Margie Ramirez Ibarra, Ex-officio Clerk of the Commissioners Court, various officers and others interested in the business of the Court.

  Motion by Commissioner, Pct. 3 John C. Galo, seconded by County Judge Tano E. Tijerina to excuse Cmr. Canales
  Vote: 4 - 0 Motion Carried

  Communications were led by Commissioner John C. Galo, Commissioner Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina, Commissioner Jesse Gonzalez, and Judge Tano E. Tijerina. 
 
4.   Public Comment - This section provides the public the opportunity to address the Commissioners Court on any items on the Agenda. Members of the public wishing to participate must complete a Witness Card specifying which agenda item they wish to comment on. Each public member will be allowed a total of Three (3) minutes within which to make any/all public comments.

5.      Discussion and possible action to approve the following Renewal/New bonds for the elected officials taking office on January 1, 2017, according Texas Local Government Code 262.011 (a) (c) for a total amount of $5,857.50.  [Account #001-0114-6033 (Bonds & Insurance)]

Issue: New and Renewed Bonds must be issued in order for elected officials to execute their duties for the new coming year.

Solution: Approval of New and Renewal of Bonds.

Result: Webb County will be in compliance with State statue.

6.      Discussion and possible action to approve the filling of the following vacant slots and authorize waiver of county policy to authorize filling these positions effective January 2, 2017, a date other than the start of a payroll period; subject to the availability of payroll funds and any applicable Civil Service guidelines, effective January 2, 2017; and any other matters incident thereto.

  Cmr. Gonzalez stated that Slot #1915 will start at 18/E and Slot #2711 will start at 18/A.
